Ms. Comstock's Message

It is with great pride that I welcome you to Glen View Elementary. Our mission is to provide a safe and exciting learning environment for each and every student. We are eager to get started with our newest adventure in learning with the addition of two French Immersion Kindergarten classrooms in the 2019-20 school year.

I had the opportunity recently to visit in some Kindergarten classrooms in the southern part of our great state where immersion has been implemented for several years. I was pleased to see students carrying on conversations with peers and adults in French. But the “non-graded” skills–those standards that are not listed on an academic report card–that were being consistently demonstrated were the areas in which I was most impressed. I saw students persevering through challenges. I saw students continue to try and try again when they failed. I witnessed children working together to solve problems. I saw students taking turns so that all were able to have a voice. I saw students actively listening to each other–listening to understand, listening to learn. These skills are essential for all students to be successful, regardless of the language learned.

We are confident that Glen View will be a school where your child feels respected and cared for as an individual as he or she learns responsibility and gains academic skills. The Glen View faculty is committed to providing educational excellence for all students.
